After completion of 100 years of Delhi, as a city and Indian Film Industry, Delhi had organized a film festival which was not only much appreciated but invited the audience for the next year’s festival too.
The 1st ever film fest in Delhi did its opening on 21st December and closing on 27thDecember at the Sirifort Auditorium but the screenings took place at NDMC Convention Center.
Total 174 films from 32 countries were played at the festival. The festival was one of its kind which included art,literature and poetry also.
Art works, Book launches, Kavi Sammelan and seminar were the main attractions with the huge participants and audience.
Zohra Sehgal was awarded for Minar-E-Dilli and cine star Sharmila Tagore was honoured with Life Time Achievement Award for her immense contribution in films. Israel Director Dan Wolman’s Film ‘Valley of Strength’ and Indian Director Nitin Kakkar’s Film ‘FILMISTAAN’ were awarded as Best Films.
Shoib Ilyasi’s Film ‘498-A Wedding Gift’ and Nitin Tiwari’s ‘Rajula’received the award for Best Audience Choice Awards.
Under NRI section, Sangeeta Nambiar’s film ‘The Gran Plan’ and under documentary section film Çinema for the People ‘won the best film awards. Under animation section, Suraj Bashisht from India got award for his film ‘Bravo’.Art section award went to Bharti Dixit for her paintings and to Harminder Singh for his unique sculptures.
Overall Delhi’s First film Festival ended on a good note. President Ramkishore Parcha was delighted to announce this festival every year in Delhi showcasing worldwide talents.
